No.1 of 5 Jimi Hendrix Garden Shots

These photographs of Jimi Hendrix had remained unseen for over 40 years. The perfect opportunity for their unveiling was provided by an invitation to go on display at the Beatles to Bowie Exhibition held in London's prestigious National Portrait Gallery. This particular portrait of Jimi Hendrix has stimulated considerable interest; not least because Fiona's camera has captured Jimi Hendrix in a sensitive, reflective mood, one so different from the persona which the artist portrayed in performance and delivered to other photographers.
These five shots, taken the same morning in the garden of a hotel while Jimi Hendrix was on his first tour in Britain in 1967, have been numbered here from 1 to 5 and described as "Jimi Hendrix Garden Shots"

  The Beatles

This photograph was taken at the same session, on the same roll of film, as Fiona's now iconic The Beatles jumping shot. It has been out of the public eye since 1963 when it enjoyed a brief airing on the cover of BIG NEW BEAT, a Boyfriend Magazine "Extra", devoted to pictures of The Beatles.
